Curiosity and delight launch today’s venture. I abandon any fear of what I might find when my mind is still. The sound of my heartbeat and the crackle of the leaves under my feet remind me of where I am, and that now is the only time that matters.
Climbing slowly, thoughts fall away like rain drips down a window, and I can see that my work, relationships, and all the other aspects of my life are built upon finding a deeper understanding and consciousness that can only be revealed in prolonged silence. Not just quiet, but a stillness of my body and mind, unveils these truths.
Under the shade of an old oak, I revive my relationship with my ”self”…the one who begs me to stop and devote time to renewal and discovery.
With each inhale, my mind becomes quieter; more peace, compassion, and light than I have felt in a surprisingly long time flood my body. With each exhale, I release the stones – no, boulders — which had been weighing me down. The freedom is calling me back…to myself. I hear the beauty of silence.
When it is time for re-entry into my world…a world that has somehow changed along with me, my heart is peaceful and I question whether the words I am about to speak are worthy of the silence they are breaking.
A large part of awakening our inner light is the ability to be alone…in silence.
Some silence and meditation every day is good for maintenance, but there are times when we need a day to go deeper.
Get out your calendar and devote at least 4 hours (or 6 to 10 hours) to spend silently in nature for renewal and discovery. Walk, sit, and journal, but leave behind your phone…I know, leaving your phone can be a challenge to the ego, AND your soul desperately yearns for a break from distractions and to be left alone with itself.
If you need a reason, please choose from the following or add your own:
- Joy
- Release
- Inner Peace
- Consciousness
- Self-Acceptance
- Ignite Creativity
- Intensify My Light
- Reconnect to Nature
- All of the above
You are welcome to join us for our Soul Renewal Meditation Hike. You don’t need to know how to meditate or be an experienced hiker. I will offer a basic meditation class at the beginning and our hike and we will go VERY slowly, as we will remain mindful in walking meditation.
In my own silence, I’ve realized that after many years of providing Soul Renewal retreats, this will most likely be the last one that I offer to the public.
