We all deal with challenges in life. Some are bigger and more devious than others. I recently had a crazy dream that taught me a great lesson about facing my challenges.
I was in a cave about 50 feet up the side of a cliff. From inside of the cave I could see this fantastic forest, all lush and green, with waterfalls and bright red, purple, and pink flowers. It reminded me of my time in the Amazon and was absolutely stunning!
Ya know how sometimes in dreams you know you can fly? Well, I knew that I could, and that if I could just reach the edge of the cave and jump, and I would be able to fly over the forest…just the thought of it was so enchanting.
So I began to walk toward the opening of the cave, but just as I got close and was ready to jump, this angry Dragon sank its claws into my shoulder and back. It threw me to the ground and dragged me back into the cave.
My first thought was, “WTF was that?”
The Dragon let go of me as soon as I was back in the dark. My next thought was, “I’ve got to get out of here.”
I needed a plan. I tried running for the opening. The Dragon stopped me again, slammed me to the ground, and with my fingers trying to grasp the dirt, dragged me back into the darkness, and released me once again.
Next, I tried to sneak out along the wall of the cave, but the Dragon grabbed me again! Each time I thought of a plan to try to out-smart it, the Dragon knew what I was thinking!
Finally, I realized…the Dragon was me. I turned toward the darkness and the Dragon. I knew that I had to go in and find out what that Dragon wants before I could get out. Then I woke up.
And so my real life journey into the cave begins. I have “stuff” to clean up that has been subtly and not so subtly sabotaging my success. I thought I had done the work needed to let go of what was not serving me, but apparently, there are layers I wasn’t even aware of.
Sometimes it’s scary going into the darkness to deal with our “Dragons”, but our courage serves to bring out even more of our light.
What Joy and Light could your Dragon be keeping you from?
Are you willing to face it in order to be free?

Have a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Tam
Thanks for reminding us all that it’s ok to face into the darkness Tam! So often, we spend all of our time fighting as hard as you did in your vivid dream, thinking that we just need to get into the light…
There are layers upon layers that we have accumulated over the years. I used to get annoyed when I discovered another one – now I simply laugh and imagine myself removing another rain coat in a storm that is fading.
Hugs,
Kathi
There is a part of me that I have come to love
He votes for security and stability. A long
time ago he forgave for the undeserved names
I had given him. Darkness, shadow and cage
where the names I had abused him with. He was
none of these. Rather it was I that had made
him so by giving these powerful names to him.
He took me into his world and showed me what
he saw. So I took him into mine and showed
hime what I saw.
Now we meet as equals at a table in a forest
in a glen that has a stream passing through it.
Whilst the stream whispers a peaceful song we
talk about each others concerns with respect for
each other.
From that place decisions are made. Sometimes for
security, often times for adventure. We have agreed
never to judge the right or wrongness of them.
What would I do without his solid earth beneath my
feet? What would he do without my wings to take
him into the sky?
He chose a name for himself, he is now called Earth
He gave me a name, He calls me Sky.
