We live in a time when, if we know where we want to go, we can set our GPS and get turn-by-turn directions to our destination. The same goes for what we want in life. If we know what we want we can set our GPS with intention and be patient for “the next right thing to do” to show up.
We just need to tweak the acronym a little…
G is for Gratitude. By being grateful for everyone and everything in your life, counting your blessings, and being present for the lessons being offered, you will set yourself up on the right path.
Making a daily Gratitude list is fun, but let’s take it a step further and make gratitude your way of being, appreciating each moment. Take a look around at who or what you could express your gratitude for. Let go of getting caught up in what is wrong with the world, your life, or someone else’s life, and focus on acknowledging what is good and what moves you toward what you want.
P is for Passion. Life is too short for “beige” and boring. Doing what you love and loving what you do will keep the fire in your engine.
Play with choices that wake you up and make you feel alive. Integrate passion into everything you do. Inspire others through your passion. Part of passionate living is having compassion. Com-means “with”, and passion- means “feeling”. Sometimes it is nice to give your head a rest and check in with what your heart wants.
S is for Service. Nothing will get you closer to harmony with what you want than serving a higher purpose.
Make offerings of yourself, your time, and your talents without attachment or expectations. The moment we attach an expectation to our service, it becomes a trade and loses its magic and delight. Surround yourself with people with whom you love to share your light and whose gifts you appreciate. Sometimes we serve the highest purpose when no one is looking by just doing the right thing. The right thing might look like picking up trash in our neighborhood or making an anonymous donation.
The same way that we would not set the GPS in our car and quit following it halfway through, we don’t want to give up on our Gratitude-Passion-and Service before we realize the full effect of the investments we are making in ourselves. By simply being mindful about our intentions and the direction we want to go, we can have a tremendous impact on our success.
What are your clear intentions for a successful life?
